An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the East Riding of Yorkshire Council Hospital Social Work Team working across Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital sites. Due to the increased demand and development of the team we have a number of permanent posts to support with the safe and timely discharges from the acute hospitals and reduce delays by proactively facilitating discharges. The positions will be based within both Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital with a blended home and office working option.

Currently the team cover business hours of 8am - 5pm on a rolling 3-week rota with a current rota of 1 in 3 weekends. The service covers 364 days a year with the exception of Christmas day.

This is a fantastic opportunity for registered social workers to take a proactive role, expanding and developing their skills; and for newly qualified social workers to take the next step in their professional career within a well-established local authority.

The role of social worker will be to work as an autonomous professional, demonstrating expert and effective practice in complex situations. This will include working with people and carers through the assessment process to identify, build and maintain family and social networks, to support and enable people and carers to actively stay well and independent, in line with strength based approaches a key in promotion of independence, wellbeing and choice. There is an expectation that you will have creative conversations with the people using services which focus on goal setting and outcomes. You must be a registered social worker with experience of adult social care settings. You must demonstrate a good knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and ability to work within the legislative framework of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and the Human Rights Act. Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and working within safeguarding procedures is key to this role.

You must have excellent communication skills, the resilience to work under pressure and be flexible in your approach. Dependent on your experience you will be required to undertake the formal supervision of unqualified staff.

This is an exciting time for adult social care which is going through transformational change which will inspire the future of the people we work with.
