Holderness Day Services offer a range of multi-disciplinary day time group activities, including social, leisure, educational and therapeutic opportunities, across the local community. We support vulnerable people over the age of 18 years, providing services for individuals who have learning disabilities; physical disabilities; profound and complex needs; and also those with needs around age- related physical difficulty and memory impairment.
We currently have a vacancy for a Support Worker within the Victoria Avenue Day Centre (Withernsea) and are seeking a highly motivated person with positive values, who is able to offer an active and flexible approach towards supporting service delivery and development, utilising good communication and networking skills.
You will have previous experience of working with vulnerable people and be empathetic, able to offer good person-centred approaches to others. You will be able to plan and lead group activities within the building and across the community and have an understanding of risk assessment and safe systems of work.
You will be a good team player and be able to work alongside others to support a group programme that covers a wide range of activities. You will be confident in working on your own initiative and be able to organise and lead group activities.
You will have knowledge of the key worker role, needs assessment and support planning, and service user reviewing processes, working with families, carers, and other agencies to achieve good outcomes for individuals. Part of your duties will include responsibility for administration of medication, including support with individual daily personal care routines, as required.
You will also have an understanding of current relevant legislation, covering areas such as mental capacity decision-making, safeguarding processes, and health and safety.
Qualification to QCF/NVQ 2 Care Award or equivalent is desirable, as is the willingness to undertake all further training relevant to the post. (This will include the Care Certificate if not already held)
Hours are worked over five days from Monday to Friday, 9:45am - 2:45pm
