The Council’s Flood Risk Strategy team oversees the Authority’s statutory duties as the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and Coastal Authority.

The team prepares and monitors the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy along with other relevant plans and policies. The team directs the Council’s overall approach to flood and coastal risk management, and works closely with other flood risk management authorities including the Environment Agency, Internal Drainage Boards and Yorkshire Water.

The team also manages one of the largest flood and coastal risk investment programme of any local authority.

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in the development and delivery of statutory strategic plans for flood management
  • Oversee the delivery of minor flood risk alleviation engineering projects and assist in the preparation and delivery of complex or major schemes
  • Assist with undertaking the authority’s strategic duties and responsibilities under the Flood and Water Management Act (2010) and drainage legislation.
