The Old School House is a specialist unit which provides residential care to older people with Dementia and related complex needs. We seek a committed, self-motivated and reliable individual to work alongside other team members in planning and facilitating a range of activity sessions for our service users.
The successful applicant will be part of a team responsible for planning and facilitating a programme of therapeutic and recreational activities to our service users. This is a continuing initiative for the service and the successful applicant will be a key figure in developing a programme based on the needs and abilities of the individuals.
The Old School House works closely with outside organisations and agencies as we “welcome the community to The Old School House” You will as an activity coordinator be expected to play a part in developing and facilitating links within the community which bring about positive results for our clients.
The work is challenging but extremely rewarding. If you like working with people, and have a desire to improve the quality of life of older people in residential care, this post could be for you.
Applicants must be literate and numerate and flexible to the needs of the service.
You should be able to work as part of a team, offering consistent approaches to care and managing behaviours that challenge. A good value base and an awareness of the needs of people with Dementia is essential.
NVQ qualifications would be advantageous as well as a willingness to take on any relevant training to meet the requirements of the post.
