Over the Easter holidays, Cowick Primary School transformed from a dining centre to a full production micro kitchen. We are seeking to appoint a cook manager to head our team in this very exciting change to our lunch service.
This post will suit a cook with experience of working in school catering. Training on use of the new equipment will be given prior to commencement and the successful applicant must be available for training w/c 31/05/2021.
The ideal candidate will desirably hold a catering qualification, such as NVQ level 3/ 706 1 and 2, but must have a minimum of a Level 2 food hygiene qualification. Knowledge of the allergen legislation introduced by the government in 2014 and a working knowledge of the Governments’ food standards regarding school food and drink, along with knowledge of special dietary needs and nutritional requirements is essential.
You will need to be a team player who can work to a high standard, whilst possessing the appropriate supervisory skills to manage a kitchen. You will also need to be approachable, enthusiastic, flexible and committed to provide and develop our service further.
On a daily basis you will be responsible for preparation, cooking and service of food having consideration of a range of special dietary requirements, food safety regulations, food standards for school food, health and safety regulations and local authority regulations, along with maintaining the high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen.
