Archives Assistant (Public Services) – 15 hours per week - 4 weekly rota including weekday, evening and Saturday working.
The East Riding Archives Service, located within the Treasure House Beverley is offering an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team of Archives assistants to provide a first class front line public service including information advisory service, customer care and supervision of reading room security. Candidates must be able to respond to visitor enquiries face-to-face, by telephone and e-mail in an organised and professional manner.
In addition to the above post holders will undertake document production, cataloguing, document processing and indexing, data entry, photocopying and general clerical tasks. Excellent organisational skills are essential, along with attention to detail. Keyboard skills and experience of computer applications are required. The work is often physically demanding.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, friendly and have excellent customer service A keen interest in local and or family history will be advantageous. Candidates will have a good standard of general education including high standards of literacy and a good general knowledge. Previous experience of working in an archive or local studies library and using on-line cataloguing systems is desirable.
A flexible approach is required to cover additional hours due to holidays and sickness absence.
