The School Admissions and School Organisation Team are looking to recruit a well organised and confident individual to support the Council’s statutory duties in relation to school admissions. We are looking to employ someone on a part-time basis, who can work well alone as well as alongside two other part-time School Admissions Assistants in this area of work. The role will focus mainly on matching available ‘in-year’ school places to children in need of a school place, often following a family relocating to the East Riding.
An understanding of school admissions and the education system would be desirable, but is not essential as training will be provided for the successful candidate. The candidate must have excellent communication skills as much of the work involves speaking to and communicating with parents, schools and other professionals in relation to applications for school places, processing applications and when applications are refused, supporting subsequent appeals for school places.
Whilst this role mainly involves work that is consistent across the school year, there are also times of the year when the team are extremely busy, so the candidate must be able to work effectively under pressure, be able to prioritise, and work to tight deadlines whilst ensuring a high level of consistency and understanding of fairness.
