All local authorities face significant challenges in securing the best possible provision and services for their children and young people. The successful candidate will understand the importance of developing productive relationships with providers to create quality and diverse provision. They will be able to demonstrate creativity in their approach to meeting the needs of the East Riding's most vulnerable children and young people.
We are looking for a dedicated, organised and committed individual with commissioning experience, to join the team in the role of Commissioning and Quality Monitoring Officer to provide maternity cover for a minimum of 9 months.
The Children’s Commissioning and Quality Monitoring team work across the whole a range of children’s services and you may be involved in work in a number of different service areas, including SEND, Education, Children Looked After and early help and prevention.
The key aspects of the role will include:
- Needs analysis, reviewing current provision, identifying gaps in provision and developing new provision where required.
- Developing and designing service specifications which deliver high quality, responsive and efficient services within allocated resources.
- Ensuring the views of users (including young people and their families) are taken into account to support and inform commissioning activity.
The successful candidates must be able use their own initiative and have:
- Experience and knowledge of commissioning and quality assurance of services plus development of service specifications.
- A sound knowledge of the key legislation that underpins children’s services, including Children Looked After and Fostering, preparing for adulthood, the SEND code of practice, along with an awareness and understanding of children’s social care, special educational needs and disability.
- The ability to work closely with partners to develop services to meet the needs of vulnerable children and young people.
