The job itself

Working for East Riding of Yorkshire Council within the Learning, Skills and Workforce Development team, you will be responsible for driving forward the planning and development of highly effective learning opportunities that are able to support the achievement of the Council’s aims and ambitions.

This is a varied and integral management level role which will include line management of the Learning and Skills Officers (Health and Safety). You will be working closely with Directors and Group/Service managers to identify training matrices across a number of areas; defining refresh periods for training and establishing protocols for reminders to be generated. You will also agree and implement a process for those leaving employment, to ensure training records are reminders are closed and for new starters to ensure that they receive the required Health and Safety training.

You will work closely with the Health and Safety Learning and Skills Officers, with a dedicated Management Information Assistant to ensure that all matrices are developed and agreed

You will be supported in this post by the Learning and Skills Planning and Commissioning Manager to ensure that the training provided meets the needs of all internal staff groups whilst also maximising the use of apprenticeships as a development opportunity for staff.

Ideally you will have significant experience of carrying out training needs analysis, planning and delivering highly effective learning opportunities and have a demonstrable track record of highly effective communication, problem solving and analytical skills.

This is an exciting, temporary position in this newly formed team for a self-motivated, innovative, creative and resilient individual and will provide the right candidate with an excellent opportunity to shape the future of learning and skills. As this is a temporary post secondment requests will be considered.
