An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and committed individual to join the Economic Development & Communications service to help us to deliver our ambitious devolution proposals.
Working on a fast-paced and highly visible programme in a complex partnership environment you will manage strategy, funding, and partnerships to deliver the devolution elements of the East Riding Economic Strategy.
This is a stretching and exciting role focused on strategy development and policy innovation in the context of place making and local growth policy. You will have the opportunity to horizon scan, identify new ways of working and apply systems design thinking in local areas. In addition, you will lead the service’s work on devolution as we move towards a proposed County Deal.
It offers considerably more freedom to innovate, develop creative approaches to policy problems and then oversee their implementation than is typical at this level. As well as innovative policy making, the role offers the post holder opportunities to build relationships with senior Local Authority officers and members, senior officials across Whitehall, as well as expert consultants, academia and think tanks.
The post is based at County Hall, Beverley but you will operate in a hybrid way with working from home an option for part of the week in addition to significant mobile working across and beyond the East Riding. As an employee of the Council, you will receive several staff benefits, including 25 days annual leave (plus eight national public holidays, two extra statutory days and one concessionary day per year), discounted leisure centre membership, staff discounts and a generous flexible working policy.

The Council offers many remote working opportunities as part of our commitment to providing flexibility wherever possible for our employees.
The Council is undertaking a review of pay and reward as part of its ambitions to attract and retain employees by having effective pay and development structures in place to support modern ways of working and to support the provision of Council services which meet local priorities. Please note that the future terms and conditions of this post may change following the outcome of this review.
If you already work for the council and have an Employee Self Service (ESS) account, please login to apply online using your ESS username and password.
Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
