The job itself

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our talented and committed team as a Play Co-ordinator in our After School Club at Melbourne Primary School.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and effective running of the after–school club, professional responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the delivery of creative play opportunities in a well-organised, safe and caring environment
  • Planning and preparing a suitable programme of activities
  • Responsibility for the administration of the club, keeping relevant records
  • Preparation of food (snacks) in line with food safety guidelines
  • Supervision and daily management of staff employed by the club
  • Ensuring the safety children and adopting safeguarding practices
  • Ensuring that the behaviour of the children is in line with school policies
  • Effective and professional communication with parents, the headteacher and staff
  • Carrying out all responsibilities and activities in accordance with the school’s agreed policies
  • Undertaking any other duties that may reasonably be regarded as being commensurate with the grade and general purpose of the post

We would like to hear from applicants that have or are working towards an NVQ level 3 in Play work/ Childcare or equivalent qualification however other experience will be considered. The successful candidate may be required to participate in training and CPD.

The postholder is accountable to the Headteacher.
