Direct Payment Worker
The job itself
Hello, I am a 10-year-old boy looking for a support worker to help me access groups and activities in the community for 4 hours per week. You would be able to help me to gain confidence and to enable me to process the environment while keeping me safe.
People who know me well describe me as funny, cheeky, and kind. I really enjoy exercise and sport, such as football or rugby. I enjoy physical activities such as going for walks and I have started running which I like, and I am improving already!
At home I like to play on my games console. I also have reptiles at home which I enjoy looking after and they are very important to me.
When out I like to go swimming or taking part in any sensory activities at groups. I am a film fan so a trip to the cinema would be a real treat and something I enjoy doing. I like to eat out.
I do not like to be around too many people or busy places and loud noises can make me angry and upset. I would need support in this environment and with processing my emotions. I can find processing and keeping regulated more difficult when I am tired.
I would benefit from someone who has patience and willing to spend time getting to know me and understand me. I need someone who is firm but fair with rules and I like a routine. I would need support from someone who will help me use my calming down techniques which I have learnt and practising to use when needed.
I would like to be supported to try out new activities and to attend groups, and to be able to take part in activities I already enjoy.

Direct Payments
Children and Young People, Specialist Services Direct Payments is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support families of Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
Whilst caring experience is always useful, you don’t necessarily need to have worked in care to be a great Direct Payment Worker, the right attitude and a person-centred approach is more important.
Travel
Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
