Support worker/ Mentor required for young man aged 26, diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum, for 5 hours per week. The position is to provide practical support, as well as advice and guidance on various matters, if and when required. This means there would be flexible hours to suit his needs.
Duties include assistance with various household tasks and independent living, helping him access education and/or employment, liaising with various organisations on his behalf, accessing benefits, assistance with communication and socialisation, as well as moral support.
The ideal candidate would be somebody with knowledge in autism, who is understanding, patient and tolerant.
In addition, it would ideally be someone who is passionate to help and who is keen to make a positive and long lasting impact. An appropriate qualification would be preferable but not essential.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post – Cost to be met by the local authority.
