A 51-year-old male gentleman in Driffield is seeking a Support Worker for 10 hours per week. This will be to support every Monday and Friday for 5 hours each day generally, with some occasional Saturdays which will be agreed in advance. Times to be determined at interview.
The gentleman has learning difficulties. Support with understanding and processing information will be required.
Interests and hobbies of the gentleman include fishing, going for walks, going for a coffee and bike riding. He is seeking someone with similar interests, someone who has a bike so they can go for bike rides together and to enjoy his other interests and hobbies.
Duties will include managing and responding to post. Support with decluttering the home. Domestic chores - support, prompt, encourage the gentleman in these tasks. Accessing the community and engaging in positive activities that the gentleman enjoys. Support with writing shopping lists and fortnightly shopping on a budget. Prompts and gentle reminders with personal care and hygiene.
Applicants need to be flexible, honest, hardworking and caring. We are seeking care workers who are sensitive to and able to positively manage and respond to the needs of the cared for person, promoting privacy, dignity and maintaining confidentiality at all times. The successful applicant will have an understanding nature and be supportive and patient with the ability to manage situations and vulnerabilities.
The candidate should be enthusiastic, resourceful, and proactive and have a good sense of humour. Effective communication is essential therefore the candidate must be thoughtful and considerate in their communication and actions.
Car driver with access to own vehicle is essential.
