Personal Assistant required to support a 67-year-old gentleman and his wife, living in Goole.
The gentleman is a wheelchair user; he can transfer from wheelchair to bed and bed to chair. He requires support with washing his back and legs, is independent of washing other parts with a little assistance if required. Also, assistance is required with supervising the lady with personal care and meal preparation if required.
The gentleman has spastic quadriplegia. The lady is recovering from lung cancer, so she struggles with breathing at times.
1.5 hours on a morning, to help with personal care and any other little jobs that may need doing, and 1 hour at teatime to make a meal and leave tidy.
Someone with sense of humour and the ability to make them feel comfortable in their presence would be ideal. Candidates also need to promote independence wherever possible.
