Support Worker
The job itself
A lady in her early 60s is looking for a Support Worker / Carer to support her in her home and in the local community.
Duties will include preparing meals, domestic help, support, and supervision with personal care. Candidates must be a car driver, as the lady requires someone to take her out and about socially and to appointments, when necessary. A car owner is not necessary, as the lady has her own car which could be used.
The lady has epilepsy, Type 2 diabetes, pacemaker in-situ, rheumatoid osteoporosis, and fibromyalgia. She can walk short distances, but always needs support and supervision.
We are seeking applicants who are friendly, have a positive attitude, and are patient and caring. The candidate must be able to use their own initiative, whilst also ensuring that an environment for maximising independence is maintained.
The candidate must be able to be sensitive to the needs of the lady, promoting privacy and dignity.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.

Direct Payments
The Direct Payments Support Service is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The service promotes independent choice and inclusion, allowing our service users to employ their own care and support as needed. We support many individuals with varying abilities, assisting with advertising and recruitment for a range of roles including support workers, carers and personal assistants.
Genuine occupancy reason
A genuine occupational requirement for a female worker exists for this post under the Equality Act 2010 due to privacy and decency.
Travel
Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
