  • Facilitate constructive engagement and partnership working with national organisations and other regional employers’ associations
  • Provide advice, support, information/data and research services to member organisations

About the Role

YHEA is looking for a credible and articulate leader who has a good understanding of HR and OD practice within the public sector - especially local government - and who is confident liaising at the most senior level including at Board level.

In particular you will appreciate the role of local authorities and be able to act as ambassador for both local government and the regional issues and work of YHEA. This will require the ability to engage effectively with member organisations and customers, involving councillors, senior managers, trade unions and national organisations.

We are looking for an individual who can use their technical knowledge and expertise within HR and OD to provide reliable and trusted advice to our members, and who can also act a champion for the YHEA within the national framework. The role affords the right candidate a great opportunity to work strategically to shape the future of YHEA and as we look to find new and more innovative ways to strengthen and develop our current service model.

If you are at a stage in your career where you are looking for a stimulating role which can wrap around your other commitments, this is an ideal opportunity. It will provide a unique combination of professional challenge, excellent profile and strategic input on a completely flexible, part time basis.

Please note that the role is home working based but may require some travel around the Yorkshire & Humber region and occasionally outside the region. The postholder will have flexibility in how and when they deliver their work, subject to the needs of YHEA and its customers.

This position is hosted by Wakefield Metropolitan District Council which means their usual terms and conditions of employment will apply.
