The job itself

The Headteacher & Governing Board seek to appoint, as soon as possible, a highly skilled and experienced teaching assistant with a minimum of a NVQ 2 Certificate in Teaching and Learning Support or equivalent.

The successful candidate will work to support individual pupils and groups within the Year 1 setting. The role involves supporting the class teacher with the delivery of appropriate interventions. Experience of delivering phonics is essential. Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs is also desirable.

The successful candidate will be able to provide a stable, calm, caring and supportive learning environment in which pupils can achieve. We require an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a passion for supporting pupils with their education and social skills, able to work using their initiative and as part of a team to support our pupils’ diverse range of needs. You should be experienced in dealing with pupil behaviour in a positive and nurturing manner. You should have excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to young people, their welfare, education and personal development. You will act as a role model to our pupils.

Hours: 12.5 hours per week (8.45am - 3.30pm with a 30 minute lunch break Thursday & Friday). Term-time only on a fixed term basis for this academic year only.
