The East Riding of Yorkshire Council Housing Maintenance Unit, is highlighting its commitment to investing in the people of the area in which it serves. There are various training opportunities, to help you in your job, or progressing within the authority.

Duties include:

  • To repair & maintain the Council's social housing stock, using plant equipment and materials fit for purpose against specification.
  • To work in a joiner’s shop, operating machinery (wood working) fabricating doors, windows along with ordering of double-glazed units, building specialised structures, bridges for bridleways.
  • Measuring and ordering of materials, obtaining best price value for materials. This work is carried out for all of the East Riding. While doing so they must make sure the joiner’s shop is run efficiently and effectively.
  • Organising deliveries and collection of materials which have been manufactured and dropped off at relevant depots.

Must be competent in the use and understanding of all wood working machinery. Maintenance and service of all machinery in the joiner’s shop.

Work Vehicle and work wear and personal protective equipment are supplied, with specialist tooling and equipment provided to help carry out your work.

You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme, giving you some form of security for when you retire and a generous yearly holiday.
