The job itself

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Housing Influence Officer within the Council’s Housing Influence Team. This a full-time post however a job share will also be considered for the role. The successful applicant/s will benefit from a blended working approach. This will mean flexible working between the base in Beverley, sites around the East Riding and working from home, subject to knowledge levels and service delivery demands.

You will be part of a team who are instrumental in ensuring we meet the requirements of the Charter for Social Housing Residents White Paper, identifying where residents have influenced service delivery and monitoring feedback to both residents and management through the team’s senior officer.

The role itself is part of a small team who provide training and support to our residents involved in working groups, etc. You will support the team in the delivery of training to colleagues on how to capture resident influence across housing services.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Senior Housing Influence Officer as well as the Housing Influence Officers in promoting resident involvement and engagement. This includes assisting in assessing resident involvement, attending meetings of resident groups, processing grant applications and expenses claims.

This is an opportunity for those with an interest in social housing and community engagement.

Training and housing qualifications will be offered to those wanting to develop their skills and knowledge within housing and we are also welcoming applicants with an interest in completing a 2-year apprenticeship for the role.

We are looking for someone who is willing to work alongside residents and colleagues and possess good communication skills.

The ability to work on tasks independently at times is required, but also to work as part of a small team. IT skills will be beneficial, although you will receive training and support in the bespoke IT systems used in Housing Services.

If you think you have the skills for this post, but require further information or an informal discussion, please contact Carla Vickers, Senior Housing Influence Officer on 01482 396151.

You will be required to travel within the East Riding and it is therefore essential that you are able to drive and have access to a vehicle.
