The job itself

This is an exciting opportunity to join The Healthy Homes Team to aid in the delivery of a comprehensive service allowing vulnerable people to remain living in a safe, warm and adapted home. You will supervise a team of 5 technical officers and report to the Healthy Homes Manager. The post holder will enable the improvement of the health and wellbeing of our residents by delivering grant funded schemes to provide disabled aids and adaptations, heating and insulation. In 2022-23 the team aided over 1,000 households with grant aid.

We are looking for someone who is innovative and positive, with a ‘can do’ attitude, has plenty of enthusiasm and the motivation to deliver. The successful candidate will have a good level of general education, with at least a HNC in Building Construction, as well as a knowledge of current Housing Assistance legislation and have the competence and experience relevant to the duties of the post. Experience of financial management, procurement, health and safety and writing specifications is essential. You will work closely with the Healthy Homes Support and Advice Team leader, who supervises a team of caseworkers and assessment officers which undertake the financial and legal side of the grants. In their absence, you will also oversee this responsibility.

You must have a good knowledge of local authority processes, with excellent organisational, communication and IT skills, be decisive and able to liaise with a range of partners to deliver the best outcome for clients. A full driving licence is required for this post.
