You are invited to apply for the position of Construction Assistant within the Construction Management Services Group (CMS) within the Council. The Group comprises four teams: Construction Management, Framework Management; Commercial Management; Construction Safety Management. This is a permanent position within the Framework Management Team, based at County Hall in Beverley.

CMS delivers a programme of procurement and project management activities relating to servicing, infrastructure, maintenance, building and consultancy contracts. The group also procures and manages the regional construction framework agreements that form part of YORhub. Further information relating to the details of these frameworks can be found on the website www.yorhub.com .

Working mainly in the Framework Management Team you will assist with the establishment and management of YORhub frameworks and support its social value outcomes. You will also be involved with the selection and monitoring of the Council’s construction related suppliers and will also be required to assist officers with various aspects of the teams work, including event planning and organisation.

Candidates are sought who:

  • Have basic knowledge/understanding or interest in the construction industry;
  • Can liaise and consult with a range of colleagues and service users, including clients and customers, using oral and written communication;
  • Can help with data collection and analysis, and administrative support in the arrangements of events and meetings;
  • Have IT knowledge and experience mainly in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Are flexible and able to attend meetings and work additional hours when required;
  • Are willing to undertake further training to progress within the team;
  • Preferably are aware of elements such as project management, New Engineering Contract procedures, and procurement activities and processes, Health and Safety at Work and quality management systems

Applicants will be assessed on their levels of qualifications, knowledge and experience, are required to have a good standard of general education, or be actively studying for BTEC Level 3 or equivalent in a construction related field.
