We are pleased to be recruiting to the post of full time permanent Welfare Visiting Assistant within our Welfare Visiting Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with this team, who last year helped our residents claimed over £4.1 million in additional benefits.
The Welfare Visiting Team visit customers in their own residences to carry out welfare and benefit verification visits and assist them with enquiries relating to the benefits and financial assistance administered by the Council. They also assist customers who are in hardship and offer debt advice.
You will be dealing with the day-to-day administration work which supports the Benefit and Debt Advisors in the field. This key role also involves dealing directly with the customer by telephone; therefore good interpersonal and communication skills are essential as well as a good level of general knowledge and IT literacy.
The post will also offer a career grade progression opportunity to a Level 2 Welfare Visiting Assistant.
You must be able to cover telephone cover to 5.00pm on a rota basis
You must be energetic, efficient and capable of working on your own initiative as well as forming an integral part of a hard working team. Duties include helping arrange visits and visit schedules, maintaining databases accurately and dealing with housing benefit and council tax support issues.
