The job itself

This role is to support the Council’s welfare visiting team. It is a great opportunity to learn new skills, we offer an excellent training plan within the council and as this post is a career graded post, there will be opportunities to progress within the Revenues and Benefits Service area.

You will be dealing with the day-to-day administration work which supports the welfare visiting advisors in the field. We are looking for someone who is a people person with good communication skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Dealing directly with customers by phone, letter and email - providing excellent customer service at all times.
  • Booking in appointments with customers
  • Data entry
  • working closely with the councils council tax and benefit teams
  • signposting customers to ensure they get support to maximise their income
  • contributing ideas to improve ways of working
  • keeping your knowledge up to date via the web, publications, briefing notes, and training opportunities
