Change lives by Teaching in Special Education. St Anne’s School and Sixth Form college is an award winning ‘Outstanding’ Oftsed rated school and we are looking for an outstanding teacher to join our Early Years provision on a fixed term basis covering maternity leave which commences in February 2023. We’ve recently moved to our state of the art new school in Hessle so you couldn’t pick a better time to consider joining us!

As a school for students with severe learning difficulties and complex needs from ages two to nineteen, we are looking for a classroom practioner who can confidently teach in our Early Years provision and who is passionate about encouraging all students to achieve. To apply you must:

  • Knowledge of working with pupils with a range of special needs and medical needs
  • Have a track record of demonstrating a strong ability to plan, prepare and teach lessons which are outstanding and in line with the Teaching Standards.
  • Have a strong and creative approach to teaching within the EYFS
  • Have a knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Framework including the early learning goals and development matters
  • Be confident in leading a team of learning support assistants and early years practioners
  • Have a confident and positive approach to behaviour management
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Have a commitment to working in partnership with staff, parents and carers and the community to promote excellent learning opportunities for all
  • An understanding of assessment in the early years
  • Have effective ICT skills

Appointment will be subject to satisfactory checks at enhanced level by the Disclosure and Barring Services and other background checks. The School will meet the cost of the Disclosure & Barring Service check, however should you withdraw your application once this is in process you will be required to reimburse this expense to the School.

The selection process will include the requirement to prepare a lesson in advance. Successful candidates will go through to a formal interview.
