Teamwork is key at St Anne’s. As a school for students with complex medical needs and severe learning difficulties, our Learning Support Assistants provide a vital role in providing a safe and productive learning environment as well as helping students access the range of learning experiences inside and outside the classroom. No two days are the same, and you’ll be asked to work as part of a close- knit team alongside the Class Teacher and other professionals either in 1:1 activities or small groups. Whilst mechanical aids are used where practicably possible, there is an element of manual handling involved in the role as is the requirement to assist with personal care, for example: feeding, changing nappies and pads and toileting.

You should have experience of working with children and young people with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour in an educational setting. An NVQ/Diploma Level 3 qualification (or equivalent higher level study) in Specialist Support for Teaching & Learning in Schools/Class Assistance or related subject is required. You should also be computer literate have a good standard of education including passes at GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) and be willing to work towards professional qualifications to further your development and career.

Please note that the school is currently consulting on changing the working hours for its Learning Support staff. The outcome could be no change or an increase to a maximum of 35 hours per week term time only. The outcome will be known by the end of June and any changes implemented from 1st September 2023.
