We’re looking for great people who want to develop their careers with us. The ICT Lead Security Officer is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and results driven individual to join the ICT Infrastructure, Cyber Security and Customer Support team.

The role will involve working as a part of an existing highly skilled and motivated ICT security team, monitoring and investigating security events so that potential attacks can be identified.

Detailed analysis of security logs to identify cyber events and incidents through to resolution. The role will also encompass managing security incidents through all elements of a cyber incident lifecycle through to resolution.


  • Have a keen interest in Cyber Security, with a thorough understanding of current ICT security threats and trends
  • Knowledge of the root cause and cyber-attack methodologies
  • Developing and maintaining the Council’s ISMS (Information Security Management System)
  • Administering the Council’s SIEM system and other technical security applications
  • Firewall administration
  • Intrusion Prevention technologies
  • Vulnerability management
  • ICT security assessment and mitigation
  • ICT security incident management
  • Information security related policy and compliance activities.
  • ICT security related project management
  • Desktop security services
  • End point and Server security patching
  • AV and Malware systems
  • Data Networking experience
  • Internet and Filtering Services
  • Manage a team of specialists particular to the IT skills under their control within the IT Security Team

We are looking for a person with experience of working in a large Corporate ICT environment, who enjoys working as part of a team, but is also capable of working on their own. The successful candidate will be based at County Hall, Beverley.

You will have the appropriate experience, qualifications and technical knowledge for this role to ensure the Council is complaint in all aspects of ICT Security, agreements, contracts and procurement in respect of its ICT infrastructure, assets and estate.

The role is based on 37 hours per week and you will be required to work outside normal office hours to ensure the Council systems are always fully operational and secure.
