The Council is seeking to build on its commercial ambitions and created an in-house Commercial Office in September 2021. We are now looking to further strengthen our approach by working with services and business partners to exploit commercial opportunities, thereby ensuring that we can continue to offer the very best quality services to our residents. Our commercial ambitions are bold, spanning beyond the Council’s in-house operations to seek new business and extend across the wider region, through our Commercial Framework.
The Council’s new Commercial Office has been created to ensure that we have the tools and skills needed to drive our commercial ambitions with pace and we are seeking a highly organised and goal orientated individual to play a key part in helping to shape the future of both the organisation and the East Riding.
The successful candidate will use their excellent communication skills and strong commercial experience to support the Council in delivering its Commercial Framework. This role is suited to candidates who are looking for an opportunity where they can utilise their experience and knowledge to serve our communities, whilst broadening their own skill set by working with internal colleagues, external partners, regional stakeholders, businesses and the public.
Under the supervision of the Commercial Transformation Lead, they will develop and implement commercial approaches for the organisation to generate alternative sources of income to invest in Council priorities, to meet the demands of increasing service pressures and to offset the costs of public service delivery.
The role will act as a bridge between the framework and those responsible for its delivery, and act as catalyst for its implementation across the Council’s services. The Commercial Facilitators will also be responsible for coordinating a variety of work programmes in support of the delivery of the framework and be required to present their outcomes to relevant Boards, Committees and Cabinet.
