Please see below criteria which is used throughout the assessment process, that has been set out to explain what is measured at each stage of the application process. Applicants who do not clearly demonstrate meeting all of the essential criteria in the application section on their application form, cannot be progressed to interview stage.

Job outline

Overall purpose

Provide a range of accountancy work with minimal supervision as directed by the Finance Manager/Senior Accountant.

Principal accountabilities

  1. Provide accountancy support to services.
  2. Direct and supervise junior members of staff.
  3. Participate in all aspects of the operation of the financial ledger including the preparation of final revenue and balance sheet accounts for services and central functions.
  4. Undertake timely analysis of budget monitoring and trading statements and undertake necessary investigations into latest expenditure trends.
  5. Prepare information for Cabinet and Committee reports.
  6. Assist in the work required for the preparation of service budgets.
  7. Maintain and develop the Financial Information System with appropriate reconciliations and controls.
  8. Prepare grant claims and statistical returns by due deadlines.
  9. In your role you are required to speak English with sufficient fluency to effectively perform your duties, as required by Section 77-84 of the Immigration Act 2016.
